Welcome to the world of
USSC cricket club. The USSC cricket club was originally a combined
eleven of two University departments, The University of Cambridge
Library and the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory. It
was registered with the Cambs Cricket Association as "The University
of Cambridge Library and Computer Laboratory Combined Eleven"
It was the Cambridge News that gave up trying to fit all of that
into their paper, so they shortend it to U.C.L.. Over time friends
and family joined the team and UCL were entered into the local
cricket league, the Cambridgeshire Cricket Association Junior
League.
UCL changed it's name to
USSC after a period of uncertainty in the clubs future due to
financial and personnel problems. This is when the University
Sports and Social club came to the rescue with a much needed injection
of cash. This is when we became affiliated with the USSC and have
since played under the name USSC.
Combined with the help
from the sports and social, new players started to join and along
with it came new optimism and playing for the club became fun
again. This approach to the game has remained ever since. We play
hard and try to win every game but come the end of play we'll
all still have a beer (or two) and have a laugh, whilst looking
forward to the next game.
Please enjoy your trip
around our web site and come back to see how we're getting on
from time to time or drop us a line and let us know what
you think, or if you fancy it pop along and see what we're all
about !!!!
